Taking it slowly in Conwy

Taking it slowly in Conwy

Before we set off on our Wales weekend we had planned certain activities for each day. Sunday was going to be a walk in the hills. However …following Saturday’s tough day of cycling which finished with the downpour we decided a more leisurely day was called for. And what could be more leisurely than strolling and taking it slowly in Conwy?

We arrived to find Conwy basking in sunshine.

We started by visiting St Mary”s Parish church, a lovely little gem of a building hidden behind the back of the main shopping streets.

Then it was on to the quayside where we ate picnic lunch whilst soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the sun.

We followed a path along the coast down the side of Bodlondeb Wood which provided us with some great views overlooking the estuary and marina.

Of course no trip to Conwy is complete without mention of Conwy Castle. So we duly completed our tourist duties with a walk around the town walls.

At about this point we crashed! So we finished with coffee and cake at Coffee Culture.

We decided to follow the coast road on our way back. Through Llandudno, Rhos-on-Sea, Colwyn Bay, Abergele and Rhyl. I spent many happy holidays as a youngster along the string of coastal towns that you pass through National Cycle Network Route 5 runs along this coast).

It was definitely an evening of nostalgia.

All-in-all a really enjoyable day. And not a bicycle in sight! Having said that we were just as tired from all the walking we did instead.
