Andy S’s Mountain Goat

Andy S’s Mountain Goat

Having had an Open University tutorial cancelled at the last minute I took the opportunity to contact Andy S and suggest we go out for a cycle for a few hours. He has been talking about a hilly route he often rides and which he has aptly named his ‘Mountain Goat ride’. Today was as good as any to try it out. Andy S is known in Stockport Community Cycling Club circles for living ‘on the side of a mountain’…

C2C Day 3 – Alston to Consett

C2C Day 3 – Alston to Consett

Bank holiday Monday was our C2C Day 3. It was always going to be a tough day as there were three big hills to be climbed. As we left Highfield’s B&B in Alston, it was already warm and sunny. Before we set off home however we thought we would have a taste of Newcastle (or at least a tiny portion of it).   Still the weather was looking down kindly upon us. We began Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 6 by leaving Travelodge Newcastle Whitemare Pool. We made our way through Gateshead. Eventually we arrived at…

Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 5 – Corbridge to Newcastle

Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 5 – Corbridge to Newcastle

Well today was Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 5 and our last day of cycling Hadrian’s Cycleway. We left Corbridge and headed out down the country lanes. Along the way we passed a small cottage (owned by the National Trust) which is where George Stephenson was born (and lived until he was 8). There was a lovely little cafe behind it where we stopped for a cuppa. Feeling refreshed, we set off again. Today was basically following the River Tyne. Once we arrived…
