Galashiels

Galashiels

After a fantastic few days in Aberdeenshire it was time to head back to Greater Manchester. As I mentioned in a previous post – it’s a long journey. So once again we broke up the journey with a cycle ride. Sarah once again plotted the route and this time she chose Galashiels in the Scottish Borders. It”s not too far from Hawick, where we were going a few weeks later. Coincidence?

Starting from Asda car park our ride briefly followed an old railway line and then the A72 for a stretch. It was however when we left the ‘A’ road at Clovenford that the ride really got going.

Picking up National Cycle Network route 1 we then followed the River Tweed cycling through Lindinny Wood for a bit.

This was another one of Sarah”s well chosen routes, following off-road tracks and quiet country lanes.

An enjoyable way to finish a wonderful weekend break.
