Wilmslow Circular 2019
Twenty-six Stockport Community Cycling Club members met in Heald Green for this Wilmslow Circular 2019 cycle ride. It was a crisp and cool, but thankfully occasionally sunny morning. I was leading this cycle ride, and Sarah was the back leader.
We began by following local network route 85. This took us along Styal Road and then turning down Hollin Lane.
Following route 85 took us around the side of Manchester Airport.
We left Hollin Lane and continued alongside the airport perimeter following the Manchester Airport orbital route.
Leaving the Airport Orbital we climbed up Altrincham Road.
Next, we turned on to Morley Green Road.
From here we then followed Barleyhurst Lane before turning up Graveyard Lane.
We then followed Paddock Hill Lane as we worked our way around the western side of Wilmslow.
Now, we turned towards the centre of Wilmslow.
Our route took us around Lindow Common.
And then through The Carrs.
After arriving at Bollin Link we turned off onto the path alongside Colshaw Farm.
This involved a climb up a long flight of steps.
We cycled along the path alongside the A34.
Then turned and cycled through Colshaw Park.
From there, we made our way along Welland Road.
At the end of Welland Road, we crossed under the railway line.
There have been attempts to close this path off, but the locals keep re-opening it!
We are a rebellious lot (almost!). So, after passing through the cut-through, we made our way to the coffee stop at The Topiary Restaurant, Wilmslow Garden Centre. The place was packed! Indeed, we met quite a few people we knew from other walks of life.
After our coffee break, we left the garden centre and continued up Handforth Road.
We turned off at Buteley Road, and then Sagars Road.
This then took us on to Clay Road.
We crossed over the new Airport Relief Road.
Then made our way through Heald Green.
This brought us back to the start. We had cycled just over 16 miles. I think everyone had enjoyed the ride! 🙂 You can view our Wilmslow Circular 2019 route below:
