Anderton Boat Lift 2019

Anderton Boat Lift 2019

The day did not start too well for Sarah and me, we forgot our Garmin devices containing our routes. Fairly important since I was leading this Anderton Boat Lift 2019 cycle ride, and Sarah was the back-leader! Sarah rushed back home and collected our devices. It meant we started a little later than usual.

Thankfully, Stockport Community Cycling Club members arriving at Wilmslow Leisure Centre were greeted with some fine weather. This Anderton Boat Lift ride is another favourite – see 2013, 2016 and 2018 for previous versions.

Our route began by weaving our way through Wilmslow and out to Great Warford.

At Lindow End, we turned off and cycled down Noah’s Ark Lane.

We then made our way through Ollerton.

Then on through the Peover’s.

Next, we turned off at Swan Green and picked up NCN Route 573.

NCN Route 573 took us through Lach Dennis and towards Northwich.

At Northwich, we turned into Marbury Lane. This took us into Anderton Nature Park.

The nature park includes a section of the Saltscape Trail.

Soon, we arrived at the Anderton Boat Lift. This was our lunch stop. It was very busy, as we expected, but strangely the cafe was almost empty. That suited us fine!

After lunch, we set off towards Comberbach.

Then, following local route 70, we cycled through Great Budworth.

From here, we headed towards Tabley.

Our route then took us through Knutsford.

We stopped briefly for a rest in Knutsford Park.

Then we continued on towards Mobberley.

Finally, we made our way back towards Wilmslow.

We had cycled nearly 35 miles by the time we arrived back at the start. It had been a lovely sunny Easter Sunday of cycling.
