Watching Stockport County
Watching Stockport County, and indeed a favourite team in any sport, is often traumatic. And fans of my favourite football team have mastered the art of stress over the years as County have hurtled from one crisis to another and eventually out of the football league. Bringing back Jim Gannon (their ex-manager) who lost his job first time round due to a previous financial crisis, may prove to be a masterstroke but this is still likely to be a slow recovery process.
Anyway today County put on one of their match promotions for this match, with adults gaining entry for £5, and kids for £1 and we decided to go. We also walked to Edgeley Park and back, a total distance of about 5 miles.
Last time Stockport County put on this sort of promotion thousands of extra people duly came through the turnstiles only for the County players to fluff their script and lose. Thankfully this time all went to plan and we beat Ebbsfleet Utd 3-1.
So 5,000 County fans went home happy, and County can begin to look upwards in the league table.
For Sarah this was her first Stockport County match. We shall invite her again since her attendance might prove the lucky omen all County fans have always been looking for. 🙂
