Portland Basin 2019

Portland Basin 2019

Last Saturday was Stockport Community Cycling Club‘s AGM. As has now become a tradition, it was followed by this Portland Basin 2019 cycle ride. This year the AGM was held at Bredbury Library. Leaving Bredbury, we headed for Woodley. Here we joined the Peak Forest canal. We followed the canal all the way to Portland Basin. At Hyde, we crossed over from one side of the canal to the other. Navigating one bridge, we got it slightly wrong. Instead of…

Anderton Boat Lift 2019

Anderton Boat Lift 2019

The day did not start too well for Sarah and me, we forgot our Garmin devices containing our routes. Fairly important since I was leading this Anderton Boat Lift 2019 cycle ride, and Sarah was the back-leader! Sarah rushed back home and collected our devices. It meant we started a little later than usual. Thankfully, Stockport Community Cycling Club members arriving at Wilmslow Leisure Centre were greeted with some fine weather. Wilmslow Circular 2019

Wilmslow Circular 2019

Twenty-six Stockport Community Cycling Club members met in Heald Green for this Wilmslow Circular 2019 cycle ride. It was a crisp and cool, but thankfully occasionally sunny morning. Following route 85 took us around the side of Manchester Airport. We left Hollin Lane and continued alongside the airport…

Marton

Marton

A few years ago, Neil put together a Stockport Community Cycling Club cycle ride to Eaton. This Marton ride route was a modified version of that, and with a new lunch stop. It began in the lay-by in front of the Deanwater Hotel at Woodford. Immediately, there was the cheeky little hill up to Lees Lane. After a few miles, we turned off towards Prestbury. We dropped into Prestbury. Followed by a climb that took us out of the village. This…

Cuerden Valley 2019

Cuerden Valley 2019

This Cuerden Valley 2019 Stockport Community Cycling Club was the latest of a regular in the club cycling calendar. You can view previous outings, including my infamous crash and burn ride, here: 2013, 2016, 2017, 2018. Many of the club rides have large numbers. So sometimes it makes a nice change when there are smaller numbers. Today, was just such an occasion. There were only nine of us, and just two leaders, Sarah and myself. Leaving Kem Mill Lane car park…
