Velodrome 2017 – Along the Ashton Canal

This Velodrome ride was the first ride after the successful Stockport Community Cycling Club weekend in Leicester. We met at Sale Water Park. Sarah and I had participated in the Stretford Parkrun beforehand and then rushed over. Gill was leading this ride and she started by leading us around the water park. SCCC Portland Basin Ride

Following the cycling club AGM it was the SCCC Portland Basin ride on Saturday. We set off from Stockport Sports Village in Woodley, where the AGM had been held. We went through Haughton Dale basically following the Rive Tame. We crossed over the River Tame, using the bridge at the bottom of Gibraltar Lane and made our way to the Peak Forrest Canal. Saturday was the SCCC Popup Bikes 2017 ride , which was a variation on a ride that we had done last year (you can read about Popup Bikes 2016 here). We met up at Cringle Park and then set off along the Manchester Cycleway. We continued through Audenshaw. Saturday started out with the weather being overcast as Stockport Community Cycling Club members gathered at Houldsworth Mill in Reddish for a cycle ride to Manchester Velodrome led by Sarah.
