E2E Day 8 – Leominster to Shrewsbury Battlefields
E2E Day 8. Today we split into two groups again. Bruce & Paul left first and took the most direct route as Bruce was still very under the weather.
The rest of us followed the planned route, which took us down some lovely quiet lanes and pretty villages. Ludlow was especially nice with the river, castle and old buildings.
However there were also a fair number of hills and I soon ran out of steam. We were all ready to stop when it was lunchtime. Lunch was at The Royal Oak in Cardington. I started feeling better after lunch but Andy L was struggling with feeling cold all day!
There was a short section which was more like a track (Kevin called it a donkey track!) which left us all feeling well shaken!
As we got into Shrewsbury we struggled down some steps and then rode along the river – far more civilised then fighting with traffic on the main road!
There was fun when we arrived at the Travelodge as most of us had rooms on the first floor but there was no lift – this meant carrying our bags & bikes up the stairs to our rooms!
