Setting foot on Anglesey

Setting foot on Anglesey

This is our fourth visit to North Wales in the last six weeks! You may have gathered that we like this part of the country.  It may come as a surprise to you therefore, to know that until this evening I had never stepped foot on the Isle of Anglesey. So, I have had particular reason to look forward to this weekend.

It started inauspiciously however with us driving as far as Warrington before we realised we had forgotten some of our cycling essentials. So we turned round and collected our missing items. Then we set off again!

We then stopped off at Cheshire Oaks in order that I could purchase a waterproof walking coat (having lost my cagoule a few weeks ago). We manage regular trips like these by being thrifty, but the trip to Cheshire Oaks quickly blew our budget before we had even started!

It meant that it was early evening before we crossed the Britannia Bridge and on to Anglesey.

On arrival at our hotel, we had our evening meal (that Sarah had prepared before the trip) and we went for a walk around the town centre. For a small town there are a lot of pubs in Holyhead! In truth Saturday evening is probably not the best time to gain an impression of any town. So we are looking forward to revisiting the town centre tomorrow.

Nighttime however is a good time to view the towns Celtic Gateway Bridge.

The weather report for tomorrow is good, and it will be our first full day on the island. We haven’t decided yet whether to go cycling or walking. Whichever we decide we are confident it will give us the opportunity to see the real Anglesey, and in its best light.
