A Christmas Weekend in York

A Christmas Weekend in York

Last weekend Sarah and I enjoyed a weekend in York. It had meant to coincide with our first anniversary since getting engaged, but with all the other things going on we had put it back to early December. We stayed at the Jorvik Hotel which is situated opposite St Olafs and across from the entrance to the Museum Gardens. A Visit to the National Railway Museum in York

A Visit to the National Railway Museum in York

This weekend Sarah and I took the opportunity for a pre-Christmas weekend break to York. One of the attractions we decided to visit was the National Railway Museum. Once we reached Brimham Rocks, the worse of the hills were done although there were plenty of undulations along the way. We then continued on to Fountains Abbey. We stopped off at Fountains Abbey to have a look around. We went in via the West Gate. Our first stop was the cafe for a drink….

Way of the Roses 2017 Itinerary

Way of the Roses 2017 Itinerary

Our Way of the Roses 2017 Itinerary outlines our first tour of the year, starting in May. Sustrans describes this as a spectacular coast-to-coast cycle route passing through both the red rose county of Lancashire and the white rose county of Yorkshire. Sarah and I have completed this particular coast-to-coast tour twice before. In 2012 it formed the second of our preparatory training tours for the End-to-End (LEJOG). And in 2014 we completed the tour with Alan and Gill, two of our Stockport Community…
