Great Warford – Cycling the Cheshire Lanes

Great Warford – Cycling the Cheshire Lanes

With the spring-like weather continuing, Sarah and I were keen to make the most of it and enjoy a weekend cycle ride. Sarah had already run an impressive 11 miles before we set off on our way out towards Great Warford.  It was a sunny day but with a slight chill in the air. Not Quite Cotebrook

Not Quite Cotebrook

For ride leaders, probably the most difficult part of planning a ride is finding somewhere suitable for a lunch stop. Foxwist Green Ride

Sunday 10th November was the Stockport Community Cycling Club eXtra ride to Foxwist Green. The eXtra rides tend to be slightly longer than normal Sunday rides. There were only 13 of us, I think quite a lot of people had been put off by the forecast of the big storm that was due to hit that day. Those of us which had ridden to the start of the ride had found it a little windy but not too bad! We left Wilmslow and headed…

Not quite the coastline of Northumberland, the spirituality of Lindisfarne, or the green valleys of the Scottish Borders. Instead in ‘Cheshire Cheese’ Jim had lined up an alternative cycle ride quite unlike any other previously encountered by SCCC. I decided to use my touring bike, a good jack-of-all-trades bike, since I figured I was cycling nearly 30 miles to the start and back…
