SCCC Popup Bikes 2017
Saturday was the SCCC Popup Bikes 2017 ride , which was a variation on a ride that we had done last year (you can read about Popup Bikes 2016 here). We met up at Cringle Park and then set off along the Manchester Cycleway.
We continued through Audenshaw.
We picked up the Tameside Trail which was great in some places and in others it had some gates that were very difficult to get through!
We then made our way through Clayton Vale.
Coming out and then going through Philips Park.
We came out of Philips park near the Etihad Stadium and made our way onto the Ashton Canal.
At New Islington we turned off and made our way through Keepers Quay.
Then through Cotton Field and headed into Manchester centre.
We then cycled through St Michaels Flags and Angel Meadow.
We stopped at Popup Bikes for lunch. It is a great cycling place.
After lunch, we left Popup Bikes and headed into the centre of Manchester.
We then made our way under the Mancunian Way, and on towards Manchester University.
We then joined the new cycle route along Oxford Road.
Unfortunately Neil, our back leader for the day, got a puncture in Rusholme at the start of the Curry Mile.
We then made our way down Fallowfield where we rejoined the Manchester Cycleway and made our way back to Cringle Park where we had started from.
We had cycled 17 miles along a very varied and interesting route. You can see our Popup Bikes 2017 route below:
