SCCC Annual Club Lunch 2020

SCCC Annual Club Lunch 2020

The SCCC Annual Club Lunch 2020, as with previous years, provides the opportunity for Stockport Community Cycling Club to reflect on last years events and reward its members for their efforts (you can view previous years annual lunches here: 2019, 201820172016, 2015, 2014, 2013).

As in previous years, the event was held at Hyde Bank Farm in Romiley. The venue no longer holds events other than weddings, however, as loyal visitors for many years, they continue to welcome us. We’re always sure of an excellent welcome at this great place.

The lunch always begins with Jim’s little quiz. and is then followed by the lunch itself.

Following the food, we move on to the awards.

Club Mileage Medals

These started with medals for members who have cycled 250 miles (bronze), 500 miles (silver) or 1000 miles (gold) with the club.

We also caught up with a few of our members who had reached their mileage targets in previous years but not attended the appropriate club lunch!

We then moved on to 2500, 5000 and 10,000 club miles awards.

The 10,000 miles medal included Jim!

And Neil …

The trophies

We began with the Most Unfortunate Rider of the Year. This year it was presented to Sarah and me for showing stoicism when leading some very wet rides, one of which no other club members turned up for!

The Newcomer of the Year award was presented to David Rix.

Next, the Most Improved Rider of the Year. This year this trophy was awarded to Mick.

Our CERA Cycloan Unsung Hero of the Year Award is presented to members (who may not be obvious candidates for the Club Person of the Year Award) for unselfish deeds in helping the club and its members. This year it was awarded to Tina.

Finally, the main trophy, Club Person of the Year was presented to Andy Shaw. Well deserved!

However, we had an extra trophy this year. We presented Jim with a Lifetime Achievement award in recognition of all the fabulous work he has done for the club past, present and future.

Of course, we always like to recognise the fabulous support of Barbara … the power behind the throne.

Finally, there was the (now) annual ‘Review of the Year’ video, which is put together by Andy S,  to watch:

This is a compilation of moments taken from the SCCC cycle rides, especially the embarrassing ones!

(The video will appear here when it has been uploaded to the internet)

The Club Lunch 2020 had again been another great annual awards ceremony.

Well done to everyone who was presented with a medal or award, they were thoroughly deserved. Who knows, next year, maybe it will be you who is going up to collect one of our medals or awards!
