Ordiefork: The Return

Ordiefork: The Return

Following an enjoyable stay with our friends in Ladybank we continued on to Ordiefork, the home of Sarah’s cousin Clive and his wife Sally. Ordiefork is the name of their home and it has been over two years since our last visit.

As soon as we arrived we went for a short walk with Guinness, Clive and Sally’s dog.

After the exercise it was time for the food. This took the form of a trip to the local Indian restaurant in Echt.

Sally works away from home during the week and she returned home late in the evening.

The following morning we made our way over to Donview for a walk around the Bennachie range of hills.

image

This initially saw us following the Millstone Hill Trail. This was a steep climb.

As you always hope the climb enabled some fantastic views. And on this occasion from the top of Millstone Hill we could look out over Aberdeenshire.

Then it was down the other side.

And then on up Mither Tap.

Just before reaching the top we stopped for lunch.

After a short break we continued up to the top of Mither Tap where there is a Bronze Age Pict hill fort. It was rather blowy at the top!

From here we made our way over to Oxen Craig.

Again it was rather blowy at the top!

We then headed back towards the Millstone Hill Trail again.

Then down the Gordon Way.

Including over some fallen trees.

Finally it was back towards the start at Donview.

By the time we got back to the car we had walked almost 10 miles. We had enjoyed a fabulous walk through varied terrain (and weather conditions!).

Next it was back to Ordiefork and a well earned rest.
