Mottram St Andrew

Mottram St Andrew

This was a route I recognised. Not surprising, since this route Andy S had put together was almost a carbon copy of a ride I had put together for a cycle ride out to Mottram St Andrew we had shared during coronavirus lockdown! Curious.

It was a fine autumn Saturday that witnessed Stockport Community Cycling Club riders meeting at Poynton Pool car park.

Graham was today’s ride leader. Sarah was the back-leader.

We began by cycling up Towers Road.

Weaving our way around the potholes.

From there, we continued our way up to Higher Poynton.

Up along Waterloo Road.

Then along Moggie Lane followed by Skellorn Green Lane.

This took us towards Adlington.

After crossing London Road we cycled along Mill Lane heading towards Prestbury.

At the end of Mill Lane, we turned right onto Wilmslow Road.

Before entering Mottram St Andrew.

And turning left into … Mill Lane.

At the far end of Mill Lane, we turned into another Wilmslow Road.

Then joined Wilmslow Old Road (note the slightly different name!).

This took us up to Mottram St Andrew village.

We took a short break here.

Then continued on towards Alderley Edge.

After arriving in Alderley Edge, we turned into Hough Lane and cycled in the direction of Wilmslow.

Skirting the edge of Wilmslow, we climbed the hill on Adlington Road, and made our way towards Dean Row.

From Dean Row, we navigated the roundabouts towards Woodford Road.

Then turned into Church Lane.

At the end of Church Lane we picked up the passage that took us towards the A555.

Our final part of the ride took us along the Airport Relief Road.

Before eventually returning to Poynton Pool car park.

Today, we cycled over 17 miles. It had been a fine autumn ride along familiar lanes.
