Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey
Stockport Community Cycling Club‘s latest ride was the popular ‘Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’ trip to Liverpool.
\r\nWe started from Otterspool and headed along the promenade for the ferry port.
We arrived in time to enjoy the usual cyclists cup of tea, then boarded the ferry for Seacombe (whilst listening to the first rendition of ‘Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’).
Once on the other side we followed the promenade past Wallasey town hall and New Brighton.
We came off the promenade and headed inland. Lunch was taken at Hoylake.
After lunch we continued around Wallasey and through Arrowes Park picking up NCN Route 56.
We returned to Seacombe and another cyclist tradition – an ice cream – to await the ferry back to Liverpool (and a further rendition of ‘Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’).
Back on the Liverpool side of the River Mersey, the final section of the ride was a return along the promenade back to Otterspool.
We had cycled 33 miles today. On a sunny day like today it is easy to see why Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’ is one of the clubs most popular rides. Cycling in sunny weather with the coast on one side – fab!
