E2E Reflections

E2E Reflections

Before moving on with our blog I thought it worth having a last reflection on the End-to-End experience. Apart from the satisfaction of completing an iconic ride, what are my E2E reflections? What did I get out of the trip?

I am amazed that the trip went so quickly for a start and that we lost all sense of what day it was. It was great to be able to put to one side events in the news that normally dominate our daily lives and just concentrate on the cycling and the scenery around us – most of it stunning.

I hadn’t previously been to many parts of the UK. And as we were cycling from one end of the country to the other I realised just how many wonderful places I had missed, and how much cycling there was still to do.

There are many many places now on our list of places to revisit cycle around, and spend more time enjoying. For while we took our time cycling the End-to-End we didn’t do justice to looking around most of the places we visited.

From a blogging point of view we learnt the skills as we went along. And most importantly I personally learnt to photograph everything! I have never been someone who takes many photos, however with the advent of smartphones it has never been easier to take a photo and upload it on to the Internet. It is especially important to take photos on once in a lifetime events such as these, even photos of places you may have previously been to. They all help tell the story of the event. Take photos not just of the scenery but also of the people you meet and the places you stay at, eat at, or visit. Sounds logical, but too often we mention somewhere we have been to but haven’t got a photo of it.

I have at last ‘seen the light’ in the value of taking photos and hopefully over the coming months you too will see an improvement as I learn the basics in the art of photography. After all photos can say far more than words, as we have seen with this blog over the last month. So, to finish off, enjoy a few more of our E2E photos.
