Wainwright Coast-to-Coast
The Wainwright Coast-to-Coast was the first long tour a team of Stockport Community Cycling Club friends undertook back in the summer of 2010. The team consisted of Andy, Andy S, Des, Alec, Clare, Debbie and Lauren. The route was planned by Andy S and, while nearly all on-road, as far as possible followed Alfred Wainwright’s famous walking route.
The route took us through the beauty of the Lake District, Yorkshire Dales and North York Moors national parks. Along the way, we also visited a variety of towns including Keswick, Penrith, Appleby, Tan Hill, Reeth, Richmond, and Whitby.
Day 1 – St Bees to Keswick
Day 2 – Keswick to Dufton
Day 3 – Dufton to Fremington
Day 4 – Fremington to Busby
Day 5 – Busby to Robin Hoods Bay
