Chester to Stretford

Chester to Stretford

Our final cycling ride on our little Chester cycling trip was the journey home, from Chester to Stretford. Sarah’s bike had been complaining a couple of days ago, and we suspected it had a cracked frame, so she was going to have to nurse it back home today.

It was another fine morning as we made our way into the city centre by crossing Old Dee Bridge.

Following the path alongside the river, for a short while, we were cycling along NCN Route 568.

Which took us under the Queens Park Bridge.

We then joined the Shropshire Union Canal.

Before turning off at Hoole Lane. Then, a little further on, cycling up Fairfield Road into Lyme Wood Fields.

Here we joined the Chester Millennium Greenway.

This took us to Station Lane, just outside Mickle Trafford.

At Mickle Trafford, we joined local cycle network route 70, the Cheshire Cycleway, and we would follow this all the way to High Legh.

From Morley Bridge, we turned towards Manley, as we headed towards Delamere Forest.

We briefly took a break at Mouldsworth.

Then it was on again through Delamere Forest.

Once through the Forest, at Norley we turned into Maddocks Hill.

This took us towards Acton Bridge.

Then on to Little Leigh.

We watched the Daniel Anderson steamship setting off on its journey up the River Weaver.

From Little Leigh, we continued our journey towards Comberbach.

In Comberbach, we stopped off for some lunch at The Spinner & Bergamot. This was another fine place we had found to enjoy some food.

After lunch, we soon arrived in Great Budworth.

Then High Legh

After leaving the Cheshire Cycleway, we now joined NCN Route 62, the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT).

This took us to Broadheath, where we then joined local cycle route 82 as it followed the Brdgewater Canal.

Finally, at Stretford, we left the canal and worked our way back to Urmston Lane where our Chester weekend journey had begun.

It had been an enjoyable cycle ride back to Stretford, and the end of a fine few days away. We had had some excellent weather, climbed a few hills, and got some cycling miles in the legs!
