Bay Cycle Way Day 3 – Arnside to Glasson Dock

Bay Cycle Way Day 3 – Arnside to Glasson Dock

We had enjoyed an excellent evening in Arnside. Now it was our final day of the tour. Yesterday, our Bay Cycle Way Day 2 had been a hilly day and finished by cycling into a strong headwind. Our final day of cycling on our Bay Cycle Way tour, which would take us to Glasson Dock, would also potentially be another day cycling into a headwind.

First up, however, we left the coast and cycled up around another hill, Arnside Knott.

We then dropped back down to the coastline.

Before leaving the coast and leaving Cumbria for Lancashire as we cycled towards Silverdale.

From Silverdale, we cycled on towards Warton.

This meant climbing up Warton Crag.

From Warton, we made our way over towards Carnforth.

On our way we crossed over the River Keer.

At Carnforth, we picked up the Lancaster Canal.

We followed the canal for the next four miles.

The canal brought us onto the outskirts of Morecambe and dropped us down to the promenade.

From there, we followed the promenade for the next few miles.

Including stopping for a short break and a cuppa at one of the seafront cafes.

Of course, we also had to stop off and have a photo taken by the Morecambe and Wise statue.

We left the seafront at the centre of the town and joined a familiar path towards Lancaster. It is one we have used on our Way of the Roses tours.

After arriving in Lancaster, we continued on to Glasson Dock.

We followed an old railway track alongside the River Lune.

Finally, at Glasson Dock we reached the end of our Bay Cycle Way tour.

It wasn’t the end of our day, however.

Next, we turned back towards Lancaster. We stopped off at Condor Green and enjoyed some lunch at the Green Finch cafe.

Back in Lancaster, Andy S and Mike caught the train back to Barrow-in-Furness to pick up the car. In the meantime, Sarah and I went for a walk around the town.

We started by taking a brief look around Lancaster Castle.

We passed by the Covell Cross and the Judges’ Lodgings.

on our way towards Lancaster Priory.

We also passed the Roman Bath House on our way back towards the railway station.

On our final Bay Cycle Way day, we cycled 26 miles bringing our total to 84 miles over the three days.
