All Change for Prestbury
It was a slightly damp morning when four of our group met at Torkington Park for our weekly lockdown ride. Tracey had planned this route, her first as part of this series. However, things wouldn’t go as planned, and plans change!
After leaving Torkington Park we began by heading up Torkington Old Road.
It’s a steady climb, but we set off at a fair lick and Sarah was finding it a bit much.
We continued on our way up through High Lane – still climbing.
However, while continuing on up to Lyme Park, Sarah decided she had had enough. Her legs weren’t working, she was tired and to cap it all, the weather was foul. So, we turned around and went down to the Manchester Airport Relief Road to see if was worth changing the route, but Sarah just wanted to go home. We decided to change the route anyway.
The remaining cyclists made their way along the airport relief road to Bramhall.
From Bramhall, we continued on through Woodford.
We then followed our familiar route up through Mottram St Andrew.
It had stopped raining now, and we were tempted to take off our rain jackets as we turned towards Prestbury.
In Prestbury, we stopped for a cuppa at Henry’s Cafe. We stopped here on one of our early lockdown rides around Bollington and Prestbury. Of course, while enjoying a cuppa, it started to rain again.
After our cuppa, we headed on out of Prestbury.
And towards Bollington. This revised route was similar to our Bollington and Prestbury, but in reverse.
For a while, between Prestbury and Bollington, we were following the Cheshire Cycleway, a route we will be touring soon.
We cycled through Kerridge
Then on to Bollington.
In Bollington, we headed for Adlington and joined Sugar Lane.
Then from Adlington, we cycled on through Higher Poynton.
Finally, we picked up Towers Road and weaved our way around the puddles!
This had been a ride of change. A change of route, and changeable weather. Nevertheless, it had been good to get out on the bike. We’ll save Tracey’s route for another day – it will be a treat!
