76084 Steam Train in Stockport
The locomotive 76084 steam train came to Stockport today on it’s way to Buxton. It is not too often that there is steam train in Stockport, so we had to go and see it!
The 76084 along with the 45690 locomotive were pulling a spar express to Buxton as a private charter.
After a 10 minute stop at Stockport, it was time for the train to continue its journey on to Buxton amid great clouds of steam.
The 76084 loco went out of service in December 1967 and spent many years in the Barry scrap yard. In January 1983 it was bought by an enthusiast and was shipped to their back garden in Nottinghamshire where it remained until he passed away. The 76084 Locomotive Company Limited was then formed to restore it and it returned to steam in May 2013. It was only in 2016 that it passed the necessary tests to allow for mainline service.
Below is my video of the 76084 loco leaving Stockport Station:

Good grief – I remember Leander when it used to be an LMS loco running past my house in Bolton as a youngster.
