TPT Day 5 – Howden to Hornsea and Hull
Friday was our TPT Day 5 – Howden to Hornsea then Hull. It was also Andy’s birthday (he said he was 24 but I think he may have ‘lost’ quite a lot of years)!
We left Howden and followed some lovely quiet roads.
The only ‘problem’ was that they were very exposed, which meant we had quite a strong head wind.
We crossed over a lock called Weighton Lock.
About 16 miles into the ride we stopped off for a coffee at Ellerker Lodge Garden Centre.
After our little break, we continued and ended up on a cycle path next to the A63 and then crossed it on a cycle bridge.
We cycled past the North Ferriby football ground and then on to the Riverside Walk which took us alongside the river Humber then under the Humber Bridge.
We were then back onto the roads as we cycled to Hull.
Once in Hull, we stopped at the Royal Cafe for a very nice lunch!
As we left Hull, we cycled to Hornsea along an old railway line.
Finally we arrived at Hornsea!
Having completed the TPT (Trans Pennine Trail), we stopped at the Seaview Cafe for a cuppa – Andy had apple pie and custard with his.
We then cycled back to Hull, where we were staying for the night.
We stayed at the Kingston Theatre Hotel.
We had some celebrating to do – it was Andy’s birthday and we had completed the TPT. We had a very good meal at Tropicana a Malayan and Indonesian restaurant. It was only a small restaurant but one to be highly recommended!

In total we had cycled just over 60 miles today, some of it was quite hard due to the wind.
