Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey 2015

Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey 2015

The annual Stockport Community Cycling Club trip to Liverpool for the Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey ride is always eagerly anticipated. It’s a couple of years since Sarah and I joined SCCC on this ride however (though blogged about the 2013 version here). Last year we were running in the Loch Ness marathon and missed it. So like everyone else we were looking forward to another cycle ride along the River Mersey. As usual we met at Otterspool Park. It was an overcast though…

Halls Route

Halls Route

The Halls Route has become a regular event on the Stockport Community Cycling Club calendar. Sadly Sarah hasn’t been feeling too well for the last few days and wasn’t up to tackling this ride. A shame since she has never cycled the Halls Route …yet.    A healthy group (pun intended) of club members met at the bottom of Vernon Park. Stockport Community Cycling Club‘s latest ride was the popular ‘Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’ trip to Liverpool.    \r\nWe started from Otterspool and headed along the promenade for the ferry port. We arrived in time to enjoy the usual cyclists cup of tea, then boarded the ferry for Seacombe (whilst listening to the first rendition of ‘Ferry ‘Cross the Mersey’). Once on the other side we followed the promenade past Wallasey town hall and New Brighton. We came off the promenade…

Anderton Boat Lift

Anderton Boat Lift

Finally it seemed as if traces of Spring are just around the corner as Stockport Community Cycling Club enjoyed a 35 mile ride around Cheshire to Anderton Boat List. Starting from Wilmslow Leisure Centre we headed out through Ollerton, Lach Dennis and Rudheath. We skirted the edge of Northwich and weaved (appropriate since we were next to the River Weaver) our way through Neumann’s Flashes which forms part of Marbury Country Park.       Lunch was at the café at Anderton…
