Goostrey 2018

Goostrey 2018

Sarah and I cannot remember the last time we missed three Stockport Community Cycling Club rides in a row. It was good, therefore, to get back cycling with the club again. Sarah, however, wasn’t feeling too good before this Goostrey 2018 ride and almost didn’t make it. However, by the time we arrived home at the end of the day she was glad she had made the effort. We met at Wilmslow Leisure Centre for a cycle ride into Cheshire…

Redesmere Ride via Jodrell Bank

Redesmere Ride via Jodrell Bank

It was a bright but rather cool day on Sunday for the SCCC Redesmere Ride. We met up at Davenport Green. There was some excitement among the ‘boys’ at the start as Paul turned up on his nice new bike! We headed out into Cheshire by skirting around Bramhall village. Along Blossoms Lane, then past the Deanwater. We then headed out through Mottram St Andrew. We then turned right onto Chelford Road and make our way to the National trust…

Goostrey – The week before Christmas

The last few Stockport Community Cycling Club rides have been rather wet affairs. So it was a pleasant surprise that this last Sunday before Christmas ride to Goostrey brought dry and relatively warm weather for this time of year. There was a caveat to that, for there was a strong wind blowing. Nonetheless it was a healthy turnout at Wilmslow for the last ride before Christmas (no doubt in preparation for the large amounts of food about to be consumed over the…

Siddington – Via Mottram St Andrew and Jodrell Bank

Sometimes you look outside early on an Autumn Sunday morning, rain pouring down, and the thought of cycling to Siddington is …well, not immediately appealing. However the reason why we love cycling is because when the rain abates and you pluck up the determination to step foot outside and ride to the start something special happens. More often than not the rest of the days weather is fine, the cycling is great, and you find yourself feeling really glad you made the effort. This…
