Ravens Route Day 1 – Ravenglass to Cleator

Ravens Route Day 1 – Ravenglass to Cleator

Saturday was Ravens Route Day 1, and the start of our Ravens Route Tour (Ravenglass to Ravenscar). Most of us travelled up in a van, although Ian had to go by train as the van couldn’t carry quite enough people. We did carry his bike and bags for him though. We stopped off at the Washington Wetland Centre for tea and…

The purpose of this visit was to spend a little time with Sarah’s friend Laurence and her family (Geoff, Danielle and Amber) who are briefly over from America visiting family, and staying…

Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 5 – Corbridge to Newcastle

Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 5 – Corbridge to Newcastle

Well today was Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 5 and our last day of cycling Hadrian’s Cycleway. We left Corbridge and headed out down the country lanes. Along the way we passed a small cottage (owned by the National Trust) which is where George Stephenson was born (and lived until he was 8). There was a lovely little cafe behind it where we stopped for a cuppa. Feeling refreshed, we set off again. Today was basically following the River Tyne. Once we arrived…
