Well today was Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 5 and our last day of cycling Hadrian’s Cycleway. We left Corbridge and headed out down the country lanes. Along the way we passed a small cottage (owned by the National Trust) which is where George Stephenson was born (and lived until he was 8). Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 1 – The next adventure begins

Today was our Hadrian’s Cycleway Day 1, the start of our latest cycle tour adventure. We got the train up to Ravenglass, arriving at lunchtime. The official Hadrian’s Cycleway starting point is the Roman Bath house, so we made our way there passing the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway station. From here the route started along the coast up to Seascale. The paths were a little overgrown in places. As we dropped down into Seascale,  there were some great views of the beach….

This Hadrian’s Cycleway itinerary covers our second tour of the year, one we will be undertaking in July. The route is described by Sustrans as ‘a ride through some of England’s most dramatic and wild countryside, taking in magnificent coastal views, breathtaking countryside and Roman forts’.
