SCCC Wilmslow Ride

SCCC Wilmslow Ride

Easter Saturday was the SCCC Wilmslow Ride. We started from the Heald Green pub in Heald Green. The was a new route, although it did include plenty of bits that were very familiar.

Andy was the ride leader for the day with Jim being the back leader.

We set off along Styal Road keeping on the cycle path.

We turned off down Moss Lane, following the Airport Circular route.

Cycling along the airport boundary

At the roundabout junction with Wilmslow Road and Altrincham Road we turned left and cycled up Altrincham Road to the Honey Bee pub.

At the Honey Bee pub we turned right onto Morley Green Road.

We turned off Burleyhurst Lane onto Newton Hall Lane before turning left into Graveyard Lane.

Graveyard Lane locals causing a hold up!

The end of Graveyard Lane is very muddy!

Having passed the Plough and Flail pub and the White Peak Alpacas we continued along a track past the farm.

We then picked up Rotherwood Lane and followed it on to Battery Lane.

We cycled past the side of the Boddington Arms pub, making our way onwards to the Wilmslow Rugby Union Football Club.

Passing Wilmslow Rugby Union Football Club, we cycled through the Carrs.

Leaving Wilmslow Carrs,  we headed towards the A34 bypass.

We turned off just before the bypass and took the cycle path that follows along the side of the bypass.

There were some steps to navigate on the cycle path.

The cycle path took us to Dean Row.

From Dean Row we passed through Colshaw Farm, making our way through to Wilmslow Garden Centre.

We stopped at the Wilmslow Garden Centre for some refreshments.

After calling at the garden centre cafe, we set off towards Handforth and then turned left and skirted around Handforth.

Can you spot the cyclists over the hedge?

We came out on Clay Lane, where they are currently working on the airport bypass road.

We kept to the back roads as we made our way back to the starting point in Heald Green.

Our route had been about 16 miles and made an enjoyable day out. You can see our route below:
