SCCC Longdendale Trail Ride
Saturday was the latest SCCC Longdendale Trail Ride. It started from Hadfield, where 16 of us met up. It was a lovely day, although the start had been a bit chilly first this when we had set off to ride to the start, which for us was about 11 miles, most of which were up hill!
We set off along the Longdendale Trail, past Rhodeswood Reservoir, Torside Reservoir and the the Woodhead Reservoir as far as the Woodhead Tunnels.
We crossed the road between the Torside Reservoir and Woodhead Reservoir, before following the Woodhead Reservoir down to the Woodhead Tunnels.
After a brief stop in the car park near the Woodhead Tunnels, we retraced out route alongside the Woodhead and Torside Reservoirs.
Having reached the road at the bottom of Torside reservoir, we briefly followed the road for a while to get to The Old House Tea Room, where we were having a coffee stop.
After our stop for resfreshments, which were all really nice, we followed the road back to the bottom of Torside Reservoir.
We took the route between Torside Reservoir and Rhodeswood Reservoir and the followed along Rhodeswood Reservoir.
We then passed between Rhodeswood Reservoir and Valehouse Reservoir.
We then crossed over between Valehouse Reservoir and Bottoms Reservoir.
The trail then took us along the side of Bottoms Reservoir
We passed between the Bottoms Reservoir and the Bottoms Fountain. Apparently the fountain is only activated if there too much pressure in the reservoirs further up the system.
We the made our way up the hill, via the roads to the starting point at Hadfield.
The ride itself was 15.7 miles long. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the ride. You can view our Longdendale Trail route below:
