Salford 10k 2015

Salford 10k 2015

Good Friday was the Salford 10k 2015 race hosted by Salford Harriers. It was a very wet start to the day and the forecast was heavy rain all day. The race started at Salford Sports Village. When we arrived, it had almost stopped raining, just a bit drizzly. I has not been struggling to fight off a virus all week, Andy was now recovered from his. Arriving at start point, I was really tired and Andy was very determined!

Just before the start time, we moved to where the race was due to start and met up with some other members of Bramhall runners whilst we waited for the event to start.

Then it was time … and we were off!

The route was two laps from Salford Sports Village, past Forest Bank Prison, Agecroft Cemetry then round again. For finishing we all got a slate coaster, which made a change from a medal.

We met up with a number of the other Bramhall Runners at the finish – there were 37 Bramhall Runners in the Salford 10k this year. The PA for the day was Andy O’Sullivan MBE who took good care of us afterwards (pictured in the blue jacket below).

I had thought that the run was quite hard and therefore that we had run quite a slow time. We certainly didn’t run a PB but it turns out that it was the second fastest 10k that we had ever run. Given that I hadn’t really run the the two weeks before (one short, slow jog since the Wilsmslow Half Marathon) due to having a virus, we were both really pleased with our time of 53:04.
