Sale Water Park Ride
It was rather damp on Saturday but that didn’t stop people from turning out for the SCCC Sale Water Park Ride. We met near the Pyramid. Normally we would meet on the bridge round the corner but as it was raining people were trying to shelter. Unfortunately this meant that a few people who arrived late, thought we had gone and set off before we did!
Our route took us along the river down to the Waterside Hotel.
We managed to meet up with the rest of the group near the Waterside Hotel and then continued along the ride.
We then went through part of Chorlton Water Park.
We then went back over the river again
Then into Sale Water Park, through Kenworthy Woods
Past Deckers Restaurant and then round the lake at Sale Water Park. They have recently upgraded the path around the lake.
We then made our way back to Jackson’s Boat pub, where we stopped for some refreshment.
We continued back along the river for a while
Unfortunately there were two punctures at the same place, so the majority of the group waited on the cycle path near the Princess Parkway whilst they were repaired.
From here we followed a route which we used to call the training bus route (we used it when we were training for the Lands End to John o’Groats ride back in 2012).
We paused for a group photo near Priestnall Leisure Centre.
The final bit of the ride took us down the side of B&Q, then over the motorway and back to the Pyramid where we started.
Although the morning had been rather wet, the rain had stopped by the time the ride had finished. The section along the River Mersey initially had been rather muddy but the rest of the ride was on fairly good surfaces. It was a very enjoyable ride.
The route we took can be seen below:
