Plumley – Cycling With Wind Resistance
The weather forecast had been for rain all day and strong winds – almost enough to put you off a day of cycling! We were due out on an SCCC ride from Timperley out to Plumley and back. As I was the back leader (to make sure no one gets left behind), not going wasn’t an option. At least it wasn’t cold! The ride officially started at the Timperley Cricket Club. There were about 20 of us that turned out.
We stopped for lunch at Peover Heath at Colonial Cafe in the Plantation Garden Centre. Most of us where very glad to stop for lunch as the wind had made ride a hard one. I was certainly very glad to stop and refuel!
Feeling suitably refreshed, we set off for our return trip to Timperley.
It did try to rain on us in the afternoon but thankfully it was nothing serious.
We had a short break near Peover Hall as Ian had to pump up his back tyre – seemed to have a slow puncture.
It was amusing that just behind a sign for no cars or horses, there was a field full of horse boxes, cars and horses!
The route back then took us through Tatton Park. I do love cycling through there – it is really special place!
Our club ride finished at Timperley Cricket Club, having done 31 miles.
By the time that we had cycled to the start of the ride and back home again, we had cycled 51 miles in total. It was a very enjoyable ride, although hard going because of the wind. When we got home I was shattered but very glad we had gone!
