Pennine Cycleway Day 4 – Alston to Orton
Pennine Cycleway – Day 4 took us from Alston to Orton. We had stayed overnight at the Youth Hostel in Alston. They have red squirrels in the trees behind the hostel.
The first climb of the day took us to the summit of Hartside.
At the summit, there is a cafe which does excellent cake!
The climb was followed by a good long downhill.
We continued on to Dufton for lunch.
Lunch was at the Post Box Pantry in Dufton, where Ian tinkered with his bike.
After lunch we continued on our way to Orton.
Passing through Appleby on the way.
We cycled 47.65 miles and climber 3711 feet in total for the day.
