Mid Wales Day 3 – Dolgellau to Porthmadog

Mid Wales Day 3 – Dolgellau to Porthmadog

We had arrived in Dolgellau, at the end of Day 2 of our Mid Wales cycle tour, in the rain. For Day 3, on what looked like another hilly route, this time from Dolgellau to Porthmadog, the day at least started dry. Not that we were taking this as a reliable guide, for rain was predicted at some point. We started by taking a brief look around Dolgellau Park. Mid Wales Day 2 – Machynlleth to Dolgellau

Mid Wales Day 2 – Machynlleth to Dolgellau

Following on from a lumpy Day 1, the route for the second day of our Mid Wales tour, from Machynlleth to Dolgellau, promised to be a challenging day of Mid Wales hills. There aren’t lots of trains to Aberystwyth, so Sarah and I journeyed down the day before our upcoming Mid Wales cycle tour. We took the opportunity to have a look around. We began by making our way down to the seafront. Since it was lunchtime we headed over to one of the local cafes, The Cabin. It was an overcast day as we made our way over to Aberystwyth Castle. The castle was originally built in the 13th century.  However,…

Nether Alderley

Nether Alderley

For this latest Stockport Community Cycling Club cycle ride we met in the layby in front of the Deanwater Hotel. Our destination was Nether Alderley. It was an overcast morning but hopefully, it would stay dry. Straight out of the layby we tackled our first climb. This took us up the hill at the end of Woodford Road. After which we turned into Lees Lane. This took us into Mottram St Andrew. Lees Lane isn’t a pleasant lane to cycle…
