Over Tabley
This weeks lockdown cycle ride to Over Tabley saw a reduced number of riders out. Tracey had family over, Neil was working, and Sarah was still struggling with her back. So, we were left with the three Andy’s.
It was another overcast morning with the threat of rain. We met in Bramhall at the entrance on to the airport relief road.
So, of course, it was down on to the relief road we went.
We followed the relief road for the first three or so miles.
Leaving the airport relief road, we turned onto Styal Road and joined local cycle route 85, the Manchester Airport orbital cycleway.
We continued to follow route 85 around the edge of Manchester Airport.
This included cycling through the airport tunnels.
Before turning off into Mill Lane and heading towards Ashley.
We could see the black clouds ahead.
Around Ashley, and then Rostherne, we followed local cycle network route 70, the Cheshire Cycleway, a section of the route we will be following later this year.
From Rostherne, we continued on towards Mere. Here we followed Chester Road.
This was formerly a very busy road linking the M56 and M6. A new bypass now takes most of the traffic. In its place, a section of the road had been made into a cycle path.
We cycled the full three-mile length of the cycle path.
A short-break was then called for.
After reaching Over Tabley we turned into Moss Lane and headed for Knutsford.
Upon reaching Knutsford we decided to look for somewhere to grab a cuppa. However, the local market was on so we made our way down to Knutsford Park.
There was a drinks van on the perimeter of the park and we headed over to that. They made a great cup of coffee.
However, while drinking our cuppa, the heavens opened and a short sharp downpour followed.
Thankfully, it soon eased off.
So we continued our ride and headed off towards Mobberley.
We followed another section of the Cheshire Cycleway for a little while.
From Mobberley, we cycled on towards Wilmslow.
Our route took us through the centre of Wilmslow.
Finally, we returned to Stockport by cycling along Woodford Road.
Today, we had cycled nearly thirty miles. We had largely missed the rainfall, and once again our cycle ride around the Cheshire lanes had given us another great day out.
