Nether Alderley
It is likely to be awhile the coronavirus lockdown restrictions are lifted enough for the Stockport Community Cycling Club cycle rides to begin again. In the meantime, Sarah and I continue to enjoy finding routes ourselves. This weekend we headed out to Nether Alderley.
It was a fine Saturday morning. For a change, we started by heading towards Poynton via Woodford Road.
This took us over the Manchester Relief Road.
Then through Poynton.
And on towards Adlington.
When we reached Adlington we turned right into Mill Lane.
Further on, we turned into Wilmslow Old Road and began a steady climb up through Mottram St Andrew, and towards Prestbury.
Next, we briefly joined local network route 70, also known as the Cheshire Cycleway as we worked our way around the edges of Over Alderley.
This took us into Hocker Lane.
It soon became a track.
It was a lovely little lane to cycle down.
We then turned into Bradford Lane.
We reached Nether Alderley at the bottom of the lane.
From there, we turned right into Congleton Road and headed for Alderley Edge.
In Alderley Edge, we turned into Mottram Road.
Next, we joined Hough Lane and cycled towards Wilmslow.
From Wilmslow and Dean Row we then picked up Wilmslow Road and arrived back into Stockport.
Finally, we followed our usual route back home.
It’s always lovely cycling up Blossoms Lane.
After passing under the railway line at the end of Hillbrook Road we turned into Robins Lane.
Past St Michael’s Church and down St Michael’s Avenue.
Our final climb of the day took us up Hillcrest Road, a hill we use for our running hill repeats training.
We had enjoyed another fantastic cycle ride. It is always a fantastic experience when cycling along the local country lanes and enjoying the scenery. Nature is all around us, of course, if we look, but being on a little cycling adventure seems to bring it closer somehow.
