Mobberley – The Return of Social Cycling
It’s been a while! However, finally, some of the latest coronavirus lockdown restrictions are gradually being eased. One of those is the ability for small groups to meet outdoors again.
So it was that I, Sarah, Neil, Andy S and Tracey met at the entrance to Ladybrook Cycleway for a Sunday cycle ride out to Mobberley. This route was inspired by the one I had created for last weeks ride out to Ashley with Sarah. It was a cool morning when we set out.
After the cycleway, we joined NCN Route 558 and made our way through Brookfield Park.
NCN Route 558 then briefly took us along the A34 before it turned off and weaved its way through Heald Green.
At Simonsway we joined local route 85 and followed this through Wythenshawe.
The route turned off at Kirkup Gardens.
Then a little further on we cycled through Painswick Park.
This took us towards ManchesterAirport and then Hale Barns.
Then from Hale Barns on through Ashley where we briefly joined the Cheshire Cycleway.
We took a brief break here. It was welcome, for by now, the sun had come out and we were warming up in our winter gear!
Then cycled on towards Mobberley.
After leaving the main road through Mobberley we followed Newton Hall Lane for a little while before turning into Graveyard Lane.
This little track took us through to Moss Lane.
We continued on towards Morley Green.
A section of which took us down the Rotherwood Road track.
Of course, it is spring. So, there’s always time to enjoy the early signs of the weather warming after the cold winter months.
Eventually, we reached Morley Green.
And then continued cycling on towards Wilmslow.
After making our way through the bottom end of The Carrs we climbed the hill on Styal Road
Soon we were returning to Heald Green.
Where Sarah spotted a couple of interesting ‘art installations’ …
Finally, we made our way back to the start by cycling through Cheadle Hulme.
Our return to social cycling had covered 28 miles. Aside from the fact it had been an enjoyable cycle ride, it had been made even more so thanks to being out with friends again.
