Jodrell Bank – Beam Me Up Scotty
Sunday was the Stockport Community Cycling Club Ride out into Cheshire to Redesmere, stopping at Jodrell Bank for lunch. We all met up in Davenport. Oh it was noisy! They were digging up the road with a view to resurfacing it. The sun was out and it looked like being a lovely day, which resulted in a large turnout of 34 riders.
We headed out through Bramhall then out towards Mottram St Andrew, Redesmere and on to Jodrell Bank.
Just before we arrived at Redesmere, someone got a puncture. We took the decision to split the group. Half of the group continued on to Jodrell Bank and order their lunch, the rest waited until the puncture to be fixed before joining the first group.
We all finally reached Jodrell Bank and had lunch there. The cafe was very busy and it had been a good decision to split the group so that we didn’t overwhelm the kitchen.
Whilst we were eating our lunch, it seemed very surreal to see the dish being moved.
Once we had all had lunch, we set off as a single group once more. We headed back via Peover Heath (the Dog Inn was still closed for renovations, which is where the ride a couple of weeks ago was meant to stop for lunch), Marthall, Warford, Wilmslow before heading back to Bramhall and then on to Davenport.
The final part of the ride from Bramhall to Davenport was the same as the way out (just in reverse)! The weather had been kind to us – the sun had shone even though it was a little cold when the sun went back in. Everyone seemed to enjoy the ride although some struggled it little towards the end as this 30 mile ride turned out to be 40 miles!
