Green Hill Walk
Having arrived in Midmar and spending some time with Sarah’s cousin Clive and his wife Sally, it was time for a walk in the local hills. We decided to walk up the nearby Green Hill.
We set off from the car park just off the B993. It had been raining in the morning, but now if was a cool but dry afternoon.
Then it was straight up the hill.
And into the forest.
Clive is a keen mycologist! This, of course, is the study of fungi, including the study of mushrooms and yeasts …
Leaving the forest we continued climbing. Now we were surrounded by heather.
The views, however, were fantastic.
We were above the clouds.
Still, we had some more climbing to do.
At the top was a pine tree. It was perhaps apt there was a christmas ornament on it!
What goes up must come down. So, having enjoyed the vistas from the top of Green Hill we set off back down again.
It had been a steep climb, and it was an equally steep descent.
Even lower down, we were able to enjoy some great scenery.
It’s a lovely part of Scotland.
While we may have only walked a few miles, we did a fair bit of climbing, this been a fine little hike in some tremendous countryside, with some fine views.
