Coast & Castles North Day 3 – Drumoig to Arbroath
We left Drumoig Golf Hotel and set off on Coast & Castles North Day 3 to Arbroath.
We had to cycle back to where we had left the route the previous evening. We set off initially towards Tentsmuir.
We cycled through the Tentsmuir forest, stopping to look at the water at Tentsmuir Point.
Our route then took us through Tayport.
From Tayport, we made our way to the Tay Road Bridge.
There is a path down the centre for cycling and walking.
Reaching the Dundee side, there is then a lift off the bridge.
We skirted the docks but had to take a detour as you needed photo ID to cycle through part of the docks.
We continued on to Broughty Ferry, where we stopped for lunch at the Ship Inn. After lunch, we stopped to look around Broughty Castle. Although free to get in, we were surprised to find a museum there.
Leaving the Castle we set off to head to Arbroath.
Passing through East Haven, which was a very interesting place.
Leaving East Haven, we continued along a damp, misty coastal path.
We finally arrived in Arbroath, where we were staying at The Old Brewhouse for the night.
It was really misty and we could hear the fog horn.
Having got changed, Andy and I took a walk into Arbroath before dinner.
We ate at The Old Brewhouse, where we had a lovely meal.
We had cycled 34 miles in total, the afternoon having quite a headwind!
