Coast and Castles South Day 8 – Dunbar to Berwick-Upon-Tweed
Coast and Castles South Day 8. Today was our final day of cycle touring as we completed the final section of the Coast and Castles South route back down to Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
We began the day by leaving the Royal Mackintosh Hotel at Dunbar and picking up NCN Route 76. We would follow this route for most of the day.
We stopped for a coffee at Pease Bay.
Out of the bay we crossed a ford and straight up a steep hill.
We dropped in to Eyemouth harbour.
We visited Giaco Pazzi’s for lunch … and also sampled their ice cream!
There is an interesting little maritime museum nearby.
After lunch there was another big climb as we entered the Scottish Borders. The views once again however made it all worthwhile.
Then we continued on through the borders with Northumberland getting ever closer.
Finally we returned to England.
We finished our Coast and Castles South adventure by re-entering Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
We stayed at YHA Berwick. We had cycled 36 quite hilly (and windy) miles for our last day.

Our last nights evening meal was a very enjoyable Indian feast at the Magna Tandoori Restaurant.
Finally we finished the evening by visiting a quirky and interesting pub called The Barrels Ale House.
