Berwick-Upon-Tweed
After breakfast (at YHA Berwick) we waved goodbye to Neil and Des – they were getting a morning train home. However we had most of the day to look around Berwick-Upon-Tweed.
We set off for a walk around the town, setting off along the river.
Past the bridges, we reached the white wall and the remains of Berwick-Upon-Tweed castle.
We climbed up and made our way onto the city walls and got some great views.
Along the wall we reached some of the defences.
We had hoped to go into the Barracks but unfortunately they are closed at weekends.
There were some rather nice Churches near by the Barracks.
We then went back onto the walls again.
We had almost completed a circuit of the city when it started to rain. All of a sudden it was bouncing down!
We then went to the Magna Tandoori and had a fantastic curry lunch.
Andy was pulling a face because he didn’t want our trip to finish! We got the train back to Manchester late afternoon and then cycled home. What a fantastic time we had had and such great weather as well!
