Anderton Boat Lift
Finally it seemed as if traces of Spring are just around the corner as Stockport Community Cycling Club enjoyed a 35 mile ride around Cheshire to Anderton Boat List.
Starting from Wilmslow Leisure Centre we headed out through Ollerton, Lach Dennis and Rudheath.
We skirted the edge of Northwich and weaved (appropriate since we were next to the River Weaver) our way through Neumann’s Flashes which forms part of Marbury Country Park.
Lunch was at the café at Anderton Boat Lift . Originally built in 1875 to lift cargo boats from the River Weaver on to the Trent & Mersey Canal it was restored in 2002 and is once again a working boat lift.
After lunch we made our way back through Comberbach and Budworth.
Then through Knutsford and Mobberley and back to Wilmslow.
It is possible to enjoy cycling at any time of the year, but with the suggestion of Spring in the air that enjoyment is even more so.
