Adlington and Wilmslow – A Nearly Spring Cycle Ride
It’s been a little while since Sarah and I last completed a weekend cycle ride – over a month and our ride to Heald Green. As the coronavirus lockdown continues there are still no club rides. While the wintry weather has meant I have erred on the side caution while continuing my hip operation recovery. Finally, however, the icy cold weather seems to be easing. Finally, however, the icy cold weather seems to be easing. So Sarah and I took the opportunity to cycle out to Adlington and Wilmslow.
We started by weaving our way through Great Moor.
Through the hospital …
And through Hazel Grove.
We turned into Towers Road in Poynton.
From which we made our way up towards Higher Poynton.
Then, from there, towards Adlington.
Today, we kept to the lower roads of Adlington.
So, we turned off at Roundy Lane, rather than continue up to Pott Shrigley.
A little further on we turned into Routledge Lane and headed down towards Adlington Rail Station.
From there, we crossed over London Road and continued to cycle towards Prestbury.
At the end of Mill Lane, we turned right Wilmslow Road.
Before turning into another Mill Lane (or maybe, originally, a continuation) at Mottram St Andrew.
At the end of this Mill Lane, we turned right … into Wilmslow Road … again! Thankfully, all Wilmslow Roads lead to Wilmslow!
Leaving the edges of Wilmslow we headed for Dean Row.
Then, after passing through Dean Row we headed towards Woodford along … yes, you guessed it, a third Wilmslow Road!
Back in Stockport, we made our way along Church Lane and then Blossoms Lane as we headed through Bramhall.
Finally, we arrived back in Woodsmoor.
Today, we had cycled 20 miles. It had been around familiar lanes. In many ways a cycle ride that wasn’t particularly special. However, that doesn’t do it justice. It hadn’t mattered where we had cycled to, it had just been fantastic to get back out on the bike and enjoy the fresh air – that was all that mattered 🙂
