Woodbank Park
The weather is changing. As jackets are back, we are now clearly moving from summer to autumn, and meeting at Woodsmoor for this Stockport Community Cycling Club ride out to Woodbank Park was a chilly eye opener
That said, while it was a cool morning, the weather was fine, and it promised to warm up later in the day.
Our route began by leaving Woodsmoor along Moorland Road.
Then heading over to Offerton.
In Offerton, we cut through the passageway at the end of Graham Road.
This brought us to the entrance of Woodbank Memorial Park.
From here we made our way through the park and picked up the path taking us down towards Bredbury.
At Bredbury, we joined NCN Route 55 along Dark Lane.
Dark Lane comes out at Otterspool Road. We continued to follow NCN Route 55, by briefly cycling along Otterspool Road, before turning right into Vale Road and onto the Chadkirk Estate.
NCN Route 55 leaves Vale Road and next follows a path which crosses the River Goyt. From which we headed up towards Marple.
At Rose Hill, we joined the Middlewood Way.
We followed the Middlewood Way for the next three miles until we reached Higher Poynton.
Here we stopped for a short … banana break 🙂
After leaving the Middlewood Way we weaved our way through Poynton.
Along Lower Park Road.
Then on towards the back of Bramhall.
Via the old Woodford Road.
A little further on we took the path by the side of Bramhall High School that took us into Happy Valley Nature Reserve.
Finally, there was a little climb up Hillcrest Road for us to negotiate.
We finished off by navigating our way through Bramhall, and back to Woodsmoor.
We cycled nearly 18 miles today (my Garmin missed the first few miles) around familiar parts of Stockport. Rides like this always show just how much greenery there is on our doorstep. You just need to know how to find it.
