Werneth Low
Our lockdown Sunday ride team now number six, but once again one of us was missing this week. This time it was Sarah who had to miss our cycle ride out to Werneth Low due to work and struggling with a back injury.
We met at Woodley to cycle a route which this week was planned by Andy S.
We began by cycling out towards Haughton Green.
From Haughton Green, we picked up a section of the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT), NCN Route 62.
This took us past the Godley turntable.
Last weeks Alderley Edge Variations cycle ride had included a section that will go into our cycling folklore. , Andy S must have thought, whatever the other Andy S can plan, I can match too.
So, another path that was barely cycle-able followed.
It brought us out at Godley.
From Godley, we headed on towards Hattersley and Gee Cross.
And then up to Werneth Low.
We had also climbed up to Werneth Low on a recent ride to Roman Lakes and Lyme Park. Thankfully, this time the route up was a little more gentle than last time.
Thankfully, the views at the top were still the same magnificent ones we had experienced previously.
We also took a different path down.
We came out at Compstall.
Before continuing on towards Marple.
Here we decided to take a short break in the local park.
Then it was on through Rose Hill.
We picked up NCN Route 55.
This took us through Chadkirk.
From Chadkirk we made our way towards Bredbury.
From Bredbury, we headed on through Brinnington.
Before finally weaving our way back to Woodley.
Today’s cycle route may have been less than twenty miles, but it was the quality that counted, and of that there was plenty. Again, we had all enjoyed another great cycle ride.
