Trafford 10k 2015
Sunday 8th March was the Trafford 10k 2015. It was a race that was part of the Bramhall Runners race series. However the weekend hadn’t started to well – when I got home from work on Friday , I was incredibly tired and seemed to get more so as the night went on. We had planned to go on the cycle club ride on the Saturday but had to decide against it because I was so tired. We decided on a leisurely Saturday but that had to shelved when we were woken by the phone – someone in distress and had to so and visit them instead. However I was feeling better on Saturday night than I had on the Friday night.
After breakfast on Sunday, I started feeling really sick. Not only that but it was raining! Still we got the start of the race in Partington. By then I was feeling less sick. Having picked up our race numbers, it started to rain really hard!
Thankfully it had stopped raining by the time that the race started. The picture below shows Andy at the starting point.
The run was quite hard but we managed to keep a steady pace at the beginning and even managed to pick the pace up nearer the end of the run. Quite a bit of the route we recognised from our cycling exploits. We were very pleased to have finished with a PB (Personal Best) time – the chip time was 52:32, which gave us an average pace of 8:27 min/mile.
Although the run was hard, we were greatly encouraged by getting a PB. There are just two weeks now until our next race – the Wilmslow Half Marathon on March 22nd.
The route can be seen below:
