Tatton Park 2018 – The End of Year Ride
This Tatton Park 2018 cycle ride was the latest in what has become a bit of tradition, a beginning/end of year cycle ride to Tatton Park – see here for 2014, 2016 and 2017 versions. It brought down the curtain on another fine year of cycling.
It was a cool and damp morning that saw a large group of Stockport Community Cycling Club cyclists meet at Gatley Rail station, eager to burn off a few of those Christmas calories. Sarah was leading the ride, and I was the back-leader for today.
We began by weaving our way through Gatley.
Then on towards Heald Green, where we turned on to Styal Road.
And Handforth.
Continuing to follow Styal Road we arrived in Wilmslow.
We picked up Knutsford Road and followed this towards Mobberley.
It proved challenging as our group dealt with a high volume of traffic on this section.
After leaving Mobberley, we arrived in Knutsford.
We dropped down through Knutsford Park.
Then on into Tatton Park.
By now, the early morning drizzle had cleared, the weather had improved somewhat, and we were able to take in and enjoy the views as we cycled through Tatton Park and past the lakes.
Lunch was enjoyed at the Stable Cafe.
After lunch, we headed down the drive …
And towards Ashley.
Then on towards Hale.
Finally, we made our way towards Wythenshawe …
Down the side of Wythenshawe Hospital.
And up Hollyhedge Road.
We had cycled nearly 27 miles today, and though the roads had seemed busier than usual, everyone seemed to have enjoyed the day.
