TPT Day 2 – Widnes to Stockport

TPT Day 2 – Widnes to Stockport

As we left Widnes Travelodge on TPT Day 2 it was a cool and misty morning. All was set for an enjoyable day of cycle touring. We decided on breakfast at the nearby Brewers Fayre. Having fortified ourselves we set off on stage 2 of our journey and were soon on the St Helen’s Canal towpath. The canal also runs alongside the River Mersey and the morning mist provided for some wonderful photos as we looked out over the Runcorn sands. Soon…

TPT Day 1 – Southport to Widnes

Media City 2015

Media City 2015

Media City is always a popular ride in the Stockport Community Cycling Club calendar. Halton Castle – An SCCC Longer Ride With Big Cakes

Last year Sarah and I were busy when Neil’s Halton Castle ride took place, so we were really looking forward to Stockport Community Cycling Club‘s latest longer ride. It also gave Sarah a further opportunity to continue her fitness recovery following her broken foot. We met at Gatley Rail station on a warm and overcast day. And soon we were heading down Hollyhedge Road and through Wythenshawe. From Wythenshawe we made our way through Dunham Massey. Crossing over Lymm Road…

A Cycle Along the Longdendale Trail

A Cycle Along the Longdendale Trail

This Saturday’s Stockport Community Cycling Club ride was along the Longdendale Trail which runs alongside a number of reservoirs. The Longdendale Trail also forms part of NCN Route 68 and therefore the Pennine Cycleway which a number of us had completed a few years previously. Andy S and I had cycled to the start and the final section of our route had been along the trail. It had rained a little as well. Thankfully as we arrived at the start, which…
